My name is Lucy. I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist (PGDip) and I work with adults who are experiencing emotional distress linked to a wide range of difficulties.
My interest in counselling began at a young age; in my teens I signed up to be a member of the student counselling network when I was studying for my first degree at Ripon and York St John. Since then I have gone on to develop both my interest and experience in counselling. Educated to Master's level, I offer counselling and psychotherapy for all kinds of issues, both short and longer-term.
I am passionate about social justice and have a lifetime experience in supporting people who are vulnerable, having worked across a number of fields including education, community development and both generalist and specialist counselling settings.
Alongside my education and work experience; my own personal life experience, including my own experience of being in therapy, influences my work with clients. I know first hand that reaching out to a therapist for professional help when you might be feeling vulnerable isn't always easy, but also how powerful having someone truly listen to you can be - therapy changed my life. I am deeply committed therefore to utilising my professional knowledge and skills to help you whilst sitting alongside you and truly listening to you without judgment, caring for you and offering you a deep sense of felt empathy - as you explore what matters for you in the safe and confidential space that I provide.
